But what seems like a spoon full of sugar is often a tough pill to swallow when you consider regulatory requirements from agencies like the FDA for use of these networks. Adopting new technologies that allow employees to share information and exchange ideas with each other and with your customers is often the best way to achieve better business results, but doing so can involve considerable risk. That’s because the content people create using these technologies is subject to the scrutiny of regulators, legislators, and litigators. On top of that, increasing litigation has made it a business requirement to consider solutions that help bring down skyrocketing legal costs. Pharmaceuticals companies must be knowledgeable of, and abide by, specific information retention regulations in every country where they do business, including those countries that prohibit data from leaving the countries’ borders. Not having technology in place to help manage these requirements and increasing risks, or

Companies recruit high performing employees with deep experience, invest in training, and reward outcomes. Yet while talent and experience are critical, new evidence suggests those attributes may not be enough. It’s not simply how well a person can perform in a typical situation, but how quickly they can return to high performance after an inevitable setback. Resilience is the ability to become strong, healthy or successful again after something bad happens. It includes (learnable) cognitive and emotional skills that reduce the degree and duration of episodes of discouragement, reluctance or defeat that often follow negative events. A resilient worker will quickly put the event in perspective and search for alternative solutions while their less-resilient colleagues experience a letdown or assign blame. This paper describes how resilience, measured by the meQ Score, corresponds to w

Decision-making is at the core of all business activity, as executives set strategy and manage operations by weighing a vast array of factors to arrive at the desired balance of risk and reward. The enormous growth of companies' size and operations in recent years-particularly across borders-is making this process increasingly complex. It is cause for alarm, then, that executives themselves perceive the quality of decision-making at their companies as mixed at best.

As wattages increase in high-density server racks, providing redundant power becomes more challenging and costly. Traditionally, the most practical solution for distributing redundant power in 208V server racks above 5 kW has been to connect dual 3-phase rack PDUs to dual power supplies in each server. Although this approach is reliable, it negates a rewarding system design opportunity for clustered server applications. With their inherent resilience and automated failover, high-availability server clusters will still operate reliably with a single power supply in each server instead of dual power supplies. This streamlined system design promises to reduce both capital expenditures and operating costs, potentially saving thousands of dollars per rack. The problem is that dual rack PDUs can’t distribute redundant power to a single power supply. An alternative approach is to replace the dual PDUs with an automatic transfer switch (ATS) connected to a single PDU, but perfecting an ATS tha
