2017 was a momentous year in security, even though the DDoS landscape appeared to plateau. Maybe it was because Mirai hit so hard at the end of 2016 and the owners of other botnets were retooling to catch up. Maybe it was because news of large data breaches captured so many headlines, drawing the attention of both criminals and the public. Or maybe it is simply due to the cyclical nature of attack popularity that we have seen in the past. No matter the cause, our prediction is that the trend won’t continue in 2018, and it is not time to be complacent. The Mirai botnet is far from played out, as botnet creators are continuing to modify the source code for their individual needs and, with more connected platforms devices than ever, the Internet will continue to offer fertile ground for largescale attacks.

Industrial enterprises around the world are retooling their factories with advanced technologies to boost manufacturing flexibility and speed, achieving new levels of overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), supply chain responsiveness, and customer satisfaction in the process. This renaissance reflects very real pressures industry players face today. For years, traditional factories have been operating at a disadvantage, impeded by production environments that are “disconnected”—at the very least strictly gated—to corporate business systems, to supply chains, and to customers and partners.

Investment casting is a precise manufacturing methodology that delivers value across industries, from mechanical, automotive and aerospace parts to intricate dental work, jewelry and sculpture. For centuries the trade-off for smooth and accurate investment casted parts has been high costs and long casting pattern lead times. Now the evolution of parts is accelerating dramatically in many industries resulting in shorter product life cycles and lower volumes of casted parts between cycles. Waiting for tooling for obsolete parts for aging aircraft also mean delays for aircraft to be repaired, costing time and money. Demand for faster foundry production is increasing in all industries and foundries need to be ready to respond. To find out how 3D Sysytems can help your business, download this eBook today.

Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology is at the heart of a growing trend in mass custom manufacturing as well as functional prototyping. The right additive technologies, materials and finishes are transforming manufacturing. Digital-direct thermoplastic manufacturing offers exceptional quality while opening the door to novel design parameters not possible with injection molding. Thermoplastic additive manufacturing also bypasses the long lead time and up-front investment in injection molding tooling. If you measure your finished parts on the three dimensions: quality, time to market, and cost per cubic inch, in many situations industrial SLS offers a better total value proposition.

As data science becomes a critical capability for companies, IT leaders are finding themselves responsible for enabling data science teams with infrastructure and tooling. But data science is much more like an experimental research organization than the engineering and business teams that IT organizations support today. Compounding the challenge, data science teams are growing fast, often by 100% a year. This guide will quickly help you understand what data science teams do to build their predictive models and how to best support them. Learn how to modernize IT’s approach to ensure your company’s data science teams perform their best, and maximize impact to the business. Some highlights include: Why data science should not be treated like engineering. How to go beyond simple infrastructure allocation and give data science teams capabilities to manage their workflows and model lifecycle. Why agility and special hardware to support burst computing are so important to data science break

Global financial organizations are facing increasing demands from the business for more granularity, transparency, reporting and security. If you’re on the IT side, you know this adds a different set of ‘mores’ to the equation: More duplication, delays, and people. What’s the net-net? More cost and more risk. You can balance the scales to satisfy those demands. And it starts with thinking differently about data management. Our financial services technology experts will explore the implications of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) imperatives. You’ll learn: • Why data is at the heart of an effective and dynamic GRC strategy • Why technological capabilities used to enable standard GRC programs can reduce transparency and prevent you from gaining a holistic view of your data • A new approach to data can provide the business with complete transparency • Review a sample regulatory reporting architecture Stop burning time on tooling — and start building a dynamic GRC strategy that can
